The Zeeland flag

If you see the flag of Zeeland, you can almost immediately guess which province of the Netherlands it concerns. The blue and white waves, which return twice to the flag, immediately betray the strong bond that Zeeland people have with the neighboring North Sea. 

This flag has been the official flag of the province of Zeeland since 1948. In 1953, during the disastrous flood disaster, the flag immediately gained fame. Since this disaster, the flag has been a symbol for the eternal battle against the water: the lion climbing the waves is a constant reminder for the Zeeland people of the fate that hit the province in 1953.
