The flag of North Holland

The current flag of North Holland has been the official flag of this province since 1958. This beautiful tricolor bears the colors that can also be found in the arms of Noord-Holland: yellow (gold), red and blue.

The colors yellow and red are typical colors in the Dutch flags, and can therefore also be found in the flag of South Holland. The colors yellow and blue represent West Frisian identity that is very much alive in North Holland. The color yellow has been given the upper horizontal line of the flag, because the color appears both in the palette of Dutch colors and in the palette of West Frisian colors.
