The flag of Gelderland

The province flag of Gelderland is a beautiful tricolor, with the colors of the Gelderland coat of arms. Yellow, black and blue appear in three equal, horizontal stripes in the flag. This flag has been the official symbol of Gelderland since 1953.

Originally, the province of Gelderland also wanted a duchy hat to come back in the flag to symbolize the duchy of Gelre. However, this idea was rejected by the Adel Supreme Court: the provincial flag thus remained a simple tricolor.
